namwoohyeons:

everybody who can’t use the ‘go to dash’ button on missing e anymore..this is what you do:

1. go to the post you want

2. in the url there will be a numbered id. copy that.

3. you now need to add +1 to said id. so if the id is like this for example: 47396607316 it becomes 47396607317

4. http://www.tumblr.com/dashboard/100/THEIDNUMBERCOMESHERE

this only works if the person you want to reply to allows this on their missing e though. :D

A huge THANK YOU for writing this.

Okay so

I’m trying to get the hang of this new tumblr layout. So far, I think it’ll work best for people with huge monitors… which is something that I do not have. (I’m guessing users with big, shiny macs are the priority here.) It really sucks having to do an additional scroll up and down when you’re trying to check what the hell’s going on with your reblog (sorry, can’t explain it clearly) when it seems to me to have been much easier with the Better Reblogs feature of missing e, which just left you with a space for your desired caption and didn’t bother showing you the *entire* post all over again which you can see already anyway.

The staff, I think, is tinkering with the code right this minute—the edit function for drafts was a complete mess an hour or so before I wrote this, but I got it to work nicely just a second ago. Hooray for small victories. Hm, now that I think about it, I’m not sure I should’ve mentioned that—might’ve jinxed it. Oops.

So I got the new tumblr update. And I know it’s still in beta.  BUT.

Can I just have missing e’s Better Reblogs feature back please?

Ok boobs

This is really just a post for people who make graphics/photosets

So there is a new userscript called Custom Photoset Layouts

and it does just that

You know how tumblr give you specific layouts well for this one you can create your own…sort of. You can’t use more than 10 gifs though although that’s tumblr standard

When you get it it’ll look like this

image

And what you do is that you put in a code of up to five digit numbers

what that does is it tells Tumblr how many rows you want and how many gifs in that row you want

For example

The code for this is 333

image

The code for this is 222

image

And these two are examples of “Non-standard” sets

The code for this is 1111 (four rows of 1 gif)

image

The Code for this is 22222 (5 rows of two gifs)

image

There is no list for the codes as it’s simple math and you just have to count. This is only useful though if you like making creative stuff idk You can go wild

It’s not necessary but nice

again this is the link [X]

princekarkat:

so apparently theres a lightbox effect you can use to browse a blog

just put in the blog name and a post number to start the page with

its like scrolling a dashboard with just that person’s posts. here’s the cool part: tumblr savior works on this page. you can reply to posts, like, and reblog them like you would on your dashboard

p cool

This is wonderful. Very useful!

Tumblr 101: How Tags work!

  • Only the first 5 tags count.
  • Start with the important tags (ex. show name, actor name, artist name).
  • If you’re the kind of person who fangirl like there’s no tomorrow like me in their tags, save that until the end.
  • Don’t tag your hate, that’s rude, childish and immature.

the first five tags of new (i.e. not reblogged) posts will only show up in tracked tags. however, you can have up to 24 tags (? i think that’s the right number. please correct me if i’m wrong) of up to 140 characters each (after that tumblr will automatically cut off the tag with an ellipses), and those will still show up on your blog (and on your dashboard) for personal organization (or commentary) purposes.

Actually only the first TWENTY (20) tags will work for organizational purposes, but the total number of tags that will actually publish is THIRTY (30).

So for example, I just made a post and put forty tags on it. Here’s what will happen:

  • Only the first five (5) will show up in tracked tags
  • Only the first twenty (20) will cause the post to show up in the tag on my blog (i.e. surrexi.com/tagged/tag)
  • Only the first thirty (30) will actually publish; the rest will disappear into the ether

THIS MEANS THAT:

  • You have to prioritise things you want to show up in tracked tags first, and you only get FIVE TAGS, so you have to choose carefully.
  • You have a further fifteen tags (in addition to the first five) that will count when you/your visitors browse the tags on your blog (so if you have a “mine” tag or a “resources” tag or a variation thereof, it’s best to put that in right after the tracked tags).
  • To know how many tags you have to use for FEELS etc, subtract the number of tags you’ve already made from 30. (So, for example, if I make a post with five “tracked” tags, a “stuff i made” tag, and four organizational tags, I have 20 tags left for my feelings, ten of which will be purely for decoration.)
  • And of course, all of your tags must be under 140 characters.

Tumblr’s being an asshat again. Sigh.

From a Tumblr spokesperson:

There is a viral post circulating on Tumblr which begins “Dearest ‘Tumblr’ users”. If you have viewed this post, please log out of all browsers that may be using Tumblr immediately. Our engineers are working to resolve the issue as swiftly as possible. Thank you.

Tumblrs to avoid at the moment: Daily Dot, CNET, The Verge.

So is this why everything’s all weird and wonky?

ETA: According to the Guardian, Entertainment Weekly and USA Today have been hit as well.

Son of ETA: Tumblr says it’s been resolved. \o/

So I checked the photosets tag on tumblr…
Posted on December 4th

… and it looks like I’m not the only one having trouble reblogging photosets the last couple of hours or so. They’re just not displaying as they should; they either get cut off, extended with a huge blank space, or rearranged altogether. At first I thought it was me being dumb and that I fucked something up when I changed my layout, but that doesn’t seem to be case as I tried reblogging from and to different tumblrs. And I’ve been getting error messages all over the place, too.

I don’t really know how to fix this, so I’m guessing I’ll just have to sit tight and wait for tumblr to sort itself out. *grumbles*

Missing Asks!

I FOUND IT! I FOUND THE ANSWER!

Okay, maybe not the final answer, but part of the problem! Asks keep getting eaten. Which is a big problem when you’re doing something anon and don’t want to ask the person “did you get it”?

If the ask contains an ellipsis without a trailing space, it gets eaten. It says delivered, but it goes nowhere.

So “Well… then” will get delivered but “Well…then” won’t!

Hopefully this helps in getting your asks actually delivered.

Post I made for my RP account, but very relevant elsewhere.

After discovering this, I tested it. Five different accounts between two people, anon vs not. No matter what, without fail, if the trailing space was missing, the message was not delivered.

I contacted Tumblr staff. They were already fully aware this was happening, but it is not documented anywhere. Nor do they seem keen on giving their users a warning about it in any fashion.

Help me spread the word because the staff won’t!

WHAT EVEN THE HELL
